Talking Fish – Damsel Fish can talk (make croaking sounds). Telling other fishes to back off!

Can fish make sound or ‘talk’? Yes, definitely! My Damsels (Three Spot Domino Damselfish – Dascyllus trimaculatus and Two Stripe Damselfish- Dascyllus reticulatus) can make sounds. They do it as you can see in the video in order to tell other fish (Blue Damselfish- Chrysiptera cyanea) to stay away from their territory. The noise making behavior may also indicate to the other fishes that they are the alpha in the fish ranking position.
